Acceptance and Registration Conditions

Acceptance of the students to the Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering is based on Erciyes University Graduate Education and Training Regulation on February 16, 2017, Application to Graduate Programs, Student Admission and Registration Guidelines.

Candidates for applying to the Ph.D. program in Materials Science and Engineering;

a) A bachelor's degree or master's degree with a thesis must be a specialist in the field of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and veterinary medicine at least ten semesters excluding preparatory classes or in a laboratory according to the principles set by the Ministry of Health.

b) Those who have a master's degree or have a bachelor's degree of at least 10 semesters excluding preparatory classes must have a minimum ALES score of 55.

c) Applicants who will apply with a bachelor's degree shorter than ten semesters except for the preparatory classes must have a minimum ALES score of 80 and a GPA of at least 3 out of 100 or 80 out of 4.

Quantification and Consideration

The subjects related to measurement and evaluation are stated in Erciyes University Graduate Education Regulation dated February 16, 2017:

(1) Exams are evaluated over 100 points. Midterm and final exam scores of a course are indicated by numerical scores. The score (0) of the exams not entered by the student is zero.

(2) The calculation of the success grade is as follows:

a) The average score of the midterm exams is determined by dividing the total score of the students who have taken the midterm examinations into the number of midterm exams. The fractional numbers to be found are raised to the nearest whole number.

b) The success score is calculated by adding 60% of the semester, year-end and the make-up exam score and 40% of the midterm score average. The midterm grade is not taken into account in the single course examination. The success grade of the students entering the single course examination is determined according to the single course exam grade. Fractions are retained on the basis of these ratios, but in the calculation of the achievement score, the fractional numbers are rounded up to the nearest whole number.

c) For each course taken by the students in the framework of the graduate program; the lecture note is given by the instructors using the table below:

ç) For a dersten to be successful; graduate students must have at least CC and Ph.D. students must have at least CB marks. The minimum grades for the postgraduate program for which the students of the Scientific Preparation Program are enrolled in the course of a derstent are valid. In the calculation of achievement grades of undergraduate program students who take courses from the undergraduate program, the graded grade is determined based on the evaluation method applied in the undergraduate program.

d) Students who are successful in seminars, thesis studies, specialization courses and other similar courses are awarded a successful (BL) and failed students (BS) grade.

e) Students failing due to failure to fulfill the attendance requirement are given an unsuccessful (DZ) grade from absenteeism.

f) The student is given a grade (M) for courses that have been taken from any higher education institution before being accepted as a graduate program pursued to the University and which are not taken into account in the calculation of credit and grade average required for graduation and granted exemption.

g) The credits and grades of the courses taken from the higher education institutions outside the university and accepted as programa transfer credits shall be transferred in the same way as the table specified in (c) above.

Graduatiın Condition

Graduation conditions are stated in Erciyes University Associate Degree and Undergraduate Education-Training Regulation dated February 16, 2017:

(1) The student who will deliver the dissertation must have submitted at least four semesters of registration with the semester in which he / she is attending and the thesis follow-up reports evaluated successfully by the thesis monitoring committee of these four semesters. Students who do not fulfill this condition can not submit their thesis.

(2) A student in a doctoral program must write his / her results in accordance with the rules of the thesis writing accepted by the Senate and defend his thesis verbally in front of the jury.

(3) Before the defense of the doctoral thesis and in the thesis which is corrected, the student completes the thesis together with the correction and submits it to the advisor. The counselor delivers the thesis to the institute with the view that the thesis is defensible. The Institute takes the plagiarism report related to teze and sends it to the advisor and members of the jury. In case of finding a real plagiarism in the data of the protocol, the thesis is sent to the administrative board of the institute for decision together with the reason.

(4) The student submits seven copies of his thesis to the head of the department, untitled, to be delivered to the institute, to be presented to the members of the jury.

(5) Theses are sent to the members of the jury by the relevant institute directorate.

(6) Doctoral thesis jury, consultant and institute appointed by the presidency of the head of the department of education and the approval of the institute board of directors. The jury consists of the teaching members of the thesis supervisory committee of the three students, and at least two of the faculty members, including the supervisor, at least two of whom are from outside their tertiary institution. In addition, the second thesis supervisor may be present at the jury without voting rights. If it is deemed necessary, the thesis monitoring committee members can be re-determined by the proposal of the counselor, the proposal of the presidency of the department of education and the decision of the institute board of directors. Doctorate thesis defense examination

ARTICLE 50 - (1) The members of the Jury shall submit the detailed personal evaluation reports about the thesis one day before the thesis defense examination and submit it to the institute for inclusion in the student's file and collect it to the student's thesis defense examination. The student has to defend his thesis verbally in front of the jury. The thesis defense examination consists of the presentation of the thesis work as a seminar and the following question and answer section. The place of the thesis defense examination, date and time are announced three days in advance at the institute and related branch of the discipline.

(2) The thesis jury shall meet at least thirty days, at the latest thirty days from the date on which the thesis is delivered to them, and take the student to the thesis defense examination.

(3) Substitute members / members outside the institution are invited instead of the original members who can not attend due to excuse for doctorate thesis defense examination. Jury meetings can not be made incomplete. The thesis which can not be done on the day of announcement is determined with the minutes and notified to the institute. My department determines a second thesis exam day within fifteen days at the latest. The executive board of the institute decides what to do about the jury who can not meet for the second time.
